Not-a-Lonely Tree

It was like a big mushroom, just standing by a little road in an empty landscape. The leaves had turned orange and red in the pressing sun light, but there it stood, stronger than anything else around. It had a nice big shadow which attracted the local sheep, goats and cows, and once in a while a traveler would stop under the mushroom tree for a picnic. In the winter it would lose its leaves, and the moving birds loved to rest on its numerous branches. Spring was a time for the little squirrels to play and hide their nuts and cones. Looking at this photo, you might think the tree was lonely… but throughout the year, it saw so much life!
